The event held Nov. 1618, made clear that interest in private labels con- tinues to rise across all retail formats. PLMA President Peggy Davies said the Store Brands Marketplace created opportunities in every category. She pointed to the larger exhibitor base, expanded product offerings and broad global representation as clear signs of the industrys momentum. The show featured hundreds of thousands of food and nonfood pro- ducts, supported by more than 3,000 booths and over 1,900 exhibitors from 63 countries. Lidl CEO Outlines Strategies to Drive Private Labels Joel Rampoldt, CEO of Lidl US, deli- vered the keynote address and drew attention with a direct explanation of the chains operating model. He detai- led Lidls efficient system, supported by electronic shelf labels, shelf-ready packaging and a curated assortment purchased in high volumes. Rampoldt emphasized the value of supplier partnerships, saying Lidl grows by investing in those relations- hips. He said price, quality and sim- plicity anchor the strategy, noting that nearly 80% of Lidls 3,300 core products are private label. He added that about 85% of the assortment comes from North Ame- rican suppliers. Rampoldt said Lidl aims to become the first choice for partners, employees and consumers. Shoppers may visit multiple stores, he said, but Lidl wants to win the first stop by offering quality, clear pricing and a straightforward experience.
